Colloidal Silver

Silver has been used for its anti-microbial properties since the times of ancient Egypt. These properties are also now well established scientifically using modern methods. Colloidal silver consists of a low concentration of tiny elemental silver particles suspended in a solution of pure water. Impressive results are most commonly reported with respect to anti-microbial/antiseptic properties, healing, allergies, irritations and detoxification. It is used for conditions that occur in both humans and animals, and in a number of cases is appropriate for the prevention of some conditions and for boosting the immune system.

Colloidal Silver Liquid

The liquid can be used both internally and externally to safely support the immune system when affected by viruses, bacteria, parasites and fungi. It can also be used to improve the rate of healing and sooth irritation and mild allergy. The recommended dosage range is printed on the product label. However, this is a general guide should not be seen as a restriction, particularly when treating very small or large animals. Also some conditions are best treated with high doses, and as such a practitioner of natural health may recommend much higher doses than the label for a stronger or more rapid effect. Colloidal Silver Cream

Natural, soothing, antiseptic formulations, fortified with herbs and antioxidant vitamins. They are ideal for external application and hold the colloidal silver in the area for longer if applied generously. The synergistic effects of the herbs and colloidal silver facilitate healing. Quality and Activity

The therapeutic activity of colloidal silver depends on the quality of the product. Appropriate methods and quality controls are paramount to the production of an effective and safe product. Poor control and incorrect methods give rise to an accumulation of high levels of ionic silver, which are responsible for the condition ‘agyria’ (Argyreia) – an irreversible cosmetic graying of the skin. High quality colloidal silver has a low level of ionic silver at about 1ppm for a 10ppm solution of colloidal silver. The 1ppm of ionic silver is still useful in the product, and is positively charged like the sodium ion in salt. It works by blocking an enzyme involved in bacterial respiration. However, the true colloidal silver is a non-ionic silver colloid and has a greater spectrum of activity than the ionic form. One of the many ways it works is by activating oxygen present in the tissues of the body against harmful microbes; this allows the immune system to gain the upper hand. It is the more desirable of the two forms, as it acts against more than just bacteria and also appears to strongly encourage healing in damaged tissues. The oxygen based mechanism also allows silver to be used to reduce the proliferation of bacteria in water purifiers (in the form of small silver coated silica beads). It also appears to have activity in areas with low oxygen tension, and this adds to the versatility of a true colloidal silver.

Storage of Colloidal Sliver

Colloidal silver should be made under stringent quality control guidelines. Even the most pure and perfectly made product is still susceptible to damage in certain conditions. It is very important to store colloidal silver away from strong sources of light. Store in a dark glass bottle in a cupboard, and dispense with a spray unit, glass dropper or plastic measure. It can be stored in some types of plastics, but the shelf life can be shortened. Do not allow colloidal silver to come into contact with metal or strong magnetic fields. Like strong light, these can cause aggregation of the colloid and reduce its therapeutic value
